Aaron Bishop

Aaron Bishop, musician and writer from the Gold Coast of Australia, completed his album “The Calm Electric” at the end of 2008. “The Calm Electric” blends folk, pop, rock and blues, with a subtle Irish/Celtic feel throughout. From the folk/pop sounds of “Light From Killybegs” to the high energy of “Between the Worlds”, Aaron Bishop’s latest work is an album of many shades and hues.

Alba Varden

A union of four individuals with strong and particular ideals  is usually a recipe for the beginning of the end, but in this case, a group of best friends are able to fuse each influence in harmony and as a result, craft a collection of effortlessly timeless songs, ready for release. The band have just finished recording their Debut EP with Burke Reid from Gerling (The Mess Hall, The Drones), and are planning to release early this year.

Gary Eastwood

Gary’s versatility as a singer/ performer is unmatched… This young sought after talent is destined for big things in the entertainment world. Gary’s ability to capture and interacted with the crowd combined with his raw energy and stage presence is what separates him from the rest. Having performed with international acts as Bryan Adams and Bon Jovi he has just released his new  solo album.

Jensen Electric

Jensen Electric features McOnie on vocals and guitar, Nic Pallett on lead guitar, Scott Jackson on drums and percussion, Rob Monie on bass and Karl Deitz on keys. Drawing on a rich vein of alt-rock influences (Neil Young, Wilco, The Beatles, The Band and The Jayhawks) Jensen Electric live shows are luscious, energetic adventures. ‘Vivid Sky’ and ‘The Easy Way Out’ have both featured on RRR shows such as The Breakfasters, Incoming, Vital Bits, Off The Record and Local and or General to name a few.

Koo Koo

Koo Koo is the call of folk-tronic / indie pop duo Katelyn Delaney & Adam Alexander…  A singer songwriter collaboration from Sydney, Australia. With a sound best described as melodic obsession in big electro pop – Koo Koo evokes the essence and nostalgia of folk, and resonates with the classic artists that inspire – Bowie, the Beatles, Blondie etc. “Majestic Electric” is an ode to the night & her electric embrace …Where we all get connected.

Mark McOnie

The fairytale began when Merseyside born McOnie torched a high profile corporate life to focus on writing and performing music.  Plasticine comes from his debut album A Tree So Tall which leans across the adult contemporary/ alt. country genres and points to a promising future for this prolific singer/ songwriter.

mcArtney

mcArtney is a fresh-faced, breakthrough act who is set on creating Australian music history. Pop songwriting with abstract and distinct production makes this young lad’s brand of indie pop stand out from the monotony of the music marketplace. Vocals work as rhythms, organs act as basses, and real instruments are played…believe it or not.

My Secret Circus

My Secret Circus meshes rock, groove and amazingly  catchy vocals to create a memorable sound, and a live experience  that cannot be missed. Power and grace, dynamics & passion,  My Secret Circus is unique and truly memorable. They’ll take you from start to finish without  allowing you to stop and come up for air. As the opening track to their debut cd suggests, The War Games  have begun & it’s time to discover the secret  that is building on our home soil. . .

Run, River, Run

Run River, Run is the music made by Scott Chalmers- originally a drummer, who decided to pick up a guitar- and anything else that came in his path.  Playing guitar, bass, organ, keyboard, harmonica, glockenspiel & anything that would make a sound, Run River Run create natural, earthy music. ‘Send the Wolves’ is the first recording to come from Run River, Run, but will by no means be the last.

Sin City

Sin City have arrived. With their debut album ‘Hungry For Love’, Sin City laid a foundation that saw them hailed as ‘the new blood we need’ (The Age) and ‘one of the most exciting bands in years’ (Faster & Louder). After having been hand picked to support such luminaries as The Misfits, UK Subs, Guitar Wolf, DOA, Guttermouth, Cosmic Psychos and Anti Nowhere League, you just know this record is going to be the real deal.

The Complimentary Headsets

You may think The Complimentary Headsets came straight off a plane. They didn’t. The Melbourne band’s unique mix of toe-tapping streetwise indie-pop-rock has been wowing crowds and turning heads since they formed in early 2008. Their sound reminds you of the Arctic Monkeys and Bloc Party, with a hint of New Order thrown in.

Troy Dean

Troy Dean moved from Adelaide to Melbourne in his early twenties and started working with Boom Crash Opera guitarist and songwriter Peter Farnan. His band supported international artists such as Ben Folds Five. Troy Dean eventually went solo. After hundreds of live gigs, he hit the studio to record his independent debut solo album “Mythology & Rumour”, available now.

Red Ink

Drawing inspiration from acts such as U2, The Police, The Killers, the Cure and Bloc Party, Mornington Peninsula indie-poppers Red Ink manage to blend their addictive melodies with anthem-like hooks. With an armoury of hypnotic tunes and an intensely captivating live performance, the lads have began to attract attention from all walks of the local and extended music community.

Trikarma

Trikarma is a potent, sonically enchanting mix of substance and positive energy, with a delicious selection of funk, pop, rock and groove infused tunes. Their sound is as New York and old-school cool as its perspective is unique. Their fatness and funk mix beautifully with the depth of their intention to create an energy all of their own.

Haunted Attics

Haunted Attics is a four-piece band from Canberra whose music is characterized by exhilarating live performances and indie-rock songs which traverse a delicate balance between hope and fear, achievement and failure, anger and forgiveness, dancing and thinking. The band’s sound is a melting pot of ideas, a brilliant amalgam of songs; from tracks with catchy pop-rock hooks, quirky, obscure and often subtly sinister lyrics, to songs with intense melodic landscapes weaving impassioned lyrical narratives.

Peter Chapman

Peter Chapman sings, writes, records and performs professionally. He has written songs with many published artists, had some minor radio play and a couple of tracks on a ‘Warrior Films’ project. Peter has recently performed shows with ‘Abby Dobson’, ‘Renee Geyer’ & ‘Vika & Linda Bull’.

We’d like to thank Darren and Zoran for sharing the Shout! Australian Music Sampler Volume 1 with the team at A&R Worldwide. There was some exceptional talent on the CD and it was a difficult choice to narrow it down to one winner. However, after much discussion we unanimously selected McArtney’s track “Circles” as the winner of the Gibson Les Paul competition. Volume 1 of the Shout! Australia Music Sampler was successfully launched at Musexpo, Los Angeles in April 2008. It was included in the official delegate bag and distributed to over 800 of the world’s most influential music industry executives.
